Women’s Tennis Association (WTA)

Women’s Sports Foundation Founder Billie Jean King was one of ‘The Original 9’ female tennis players to establish the WTA in 1970, two years ahead of the passage of Title IX and the founding of the WSF. The Women’s Sports Foundation thanks the WTA – a global leader in sport – for its long-standing commitment to gender equality and to developing girls and women as leaders in and through sports.
