Meet Coco Vandeweghe: The daughter of athletic royalty, Coco is now making her own mark on the tennis world. Just yesterday, she secured her first victory in a Grand Slam tournament, beating Alberta Brianti at Flushing Meadows. Bio: Turned Pro in 2008, first Grand Slam victory at the 2011 US Open, 2011 Wimbledon participant, won two singles titles and one doubles title on 2010 ITF Women's Circuit, current member of the WTT's Boston Lobsters, 2008 US Open Junior Champion
Her Family: Mother – Tauna – is a two-time Olympian in Swimming (1976) and Basketball (1984) and has attended numerous WSF events as an invited athlete; Grandfather, Ernie Vandeweghe, is a former NY Knick; her grandmother, Colleen Kay Hutchins, is former Miss America (1952); her grandmother's brother, Mel Hutchins, played 7 years in the NBA; her uncle, Kiki Vandeweghe, a former UCLA basketball star and former general manager of the Denver Nuggets.
