Hogshead-Makar featured in the Chronicle of Higher Education

In a new opinion piece in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the Senior Director of Advocacy for the Women’s Sports Foundation, Nancy Hogshead-Makar, shares that she firmly believes in the educational mission of athletics and its ability to enhance both academics and life. Nancy notes that there are steps colleges and universities can take in order to eliminate commercialization and the underlying economic incentives that fuel, among other things, cheating, criminal cover-ups, and blatant noncompliance with federal laws that give women equal access to collegiate sports. Hogshead-Makar is joined by seven others (notably, all men) in the commentary feature, all sharing their answers to the question, “What the Hell Has Happened to College Sports?”
