The national Sports 4 Life initiative was co-founded by the Women’s Sports Foundation and espnW in 2014. The initiative supports programs that help girls in four foundational areas – leadership, self-esteem, confidence and perseverance – with the expectation that growth in these areas will also support girls’ physical and emotional health and academic success.

Together, the Women’s Sports Foundation and espnW are committed to increasing access to sport for girls of color and to underserved communities. In June 2019, we awarded $250,000 to 50 Sports 4 Life community partners, representing 44 sports in 27 states. This funding is expected to serve more than 11,000 middle and high school girls.
