The Yolanda L. Jackson Give Back Award is named for Yolanda L. Jackson, former Senior Director of Athlete Marketing & Promotions for the Women’s Sports Foundation. Jackson joined the Foundation in 1989 and for more than two decades worked tirelessly to help women athletes in all sports to be more visible to the public and the corporate community by providing them with a platform to promote themselves and their sport. She has been credited for bringing to the public’s attention many of the past, current and future elite female athletes. And in so doing, has shown what it means to give back. Therefore the award goes to an athlete who exemplifies what it means to be a role model, and who knows the importance of giving back. The award is accompanied by a $1,000 check, which is given to the girls’ sports program of the award winner’s choice.
