The "PLAY IX" Contest: Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

Contest may only be entered in or from the 50 United States and the District of Columbia and entries originating from any other jurisdiction are not eligible for entry.  This Contest is governed exclusively by the laws of the United States.  You are not authorized to participate in the Contest if you are not located within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia.

  • How to Enter. During the Contest Period (defined below), you can participate in the Contest and the Game (described below) on behalf of your School and Team (described below) through Facebook Messenger by following this link: https://www.messenger.com/t/WSFplayIX and @WSFplayIX. You must have a Facebook account to enter via this method.  If you do not have a Facebook account, you can create one by visiting facebook.com.  Facebook accounts are free.

Through Facebook Messenger, following the link above, simply follow the instructions to play the game, which will help you learn about rights under Title IX in school athletics (the “Game”).  During the Game you will be asked a series of questions about your school (“School”) and the varsity team sport you participate in (each a “Team”), and given the chance to pick one of four avatars (each, an “Avatar”) and learn more about Title IX through that Avatar’s perspective.  You don’t have to be attending school or participate on a Team in order to play the Game. If you aren’t attending school or on a Team, you may still play by entering the school of your choice and sport of your choice. You’ll also be asked questions during gameplay that you are asked to answer in order to move on.  A round of play for each Avatar takes between 8 to 12 minutes.   To complete the entire Game, you must finish all four Avatars, but the game does not need to be completed at one time. There are natural stopping points after each Avatar. Players will continue to have access to the Game throughout the entire Contest Period through Facebook Messenger.

If you complete one Avatar, you’ll be eligible for certain additional incentives.  If you complete all four Avatars, it will count as one Game Completion for the Team and School that you indicated (each, a “Completion”). To count as a Completion, you must complete your fourth Avatar for the first time during the Contest Period. Users who completed the Game prior to the Contest Period are not counted towards a Team or School total.

If you choose to enter using your mobile device, standard data fees may apply.  You should consult your wireless service provider’s pricing plan for details. You agree to incur any and all charges demanded by your wireless carrier. You should also check your device’s features for capabilities and check the device manual for specific use instructions.

Limit one Game Completion per person / Facebook account.  Duplicate ENTRIES by the same person will be subject to disqualification. Players are encouraged to play as often as you wish, but only one Completion per person will be entered as a Game Completion All terms and conditions of Facebook.com apply.  Multiple entrants are not permitted to share the same Facebook account.  Any attempt by any entrant to obtain more than the stated number of entries by using multiple/different Facebook accounts, identities, registrations and logins, or any other methods will void that entrant’s entries and that entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification.  In the event of a dispute as to any Facebook account, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register on the platform will be deemed to be the entrant. The “authorized account holder” is the natural person assigned an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted address.  Each potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

The Women’s Sports Foundation (“Sponsor”) is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, stolen, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, misdirected, technically corrupted or garbled entries, which will be disqualified, or for problems of any kind whether mechanical, human or electronic.  Proof of entry will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by Sponsor.  By entering the Contest, entrants fully and unconditionally agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges, which will be final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.
