Louisville Cardinals Honor Title IX Godmother

The University of Louisville Athletic Department celebrated the 40th Anniversary of Title IX by honoring the "Godmother of Title IX," Dr. Bernice Sandler, at a women's Basketball game om February 7, 2012. Current female student-athletes, alumni and women's coaches were all present to honor the unprecedented work of Dr. Sandler. She played a major role in the development and passage of Title IX and other laws prohibiting sex discrimination in education, and has been associated with Title IX longer than any other person. The New York Times has referred to her as the “godmother of Title IX.”
