As one of the 20th century's most respected and influential people, Billie Jean King has long been a champion for social change and equality. In August 2009, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. The Chair of the WSF Board of Trustees, Fitzgerald Mosley won a gold medal in the 100-meter hurdles in the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Calif., making her just the second American woman to do so.
