Olympic swimmer Summer Sanders talks life after the medals, giving back to the WSF

Four-time Olympic medal winner Summer Sanders recently discussed with Swimming World magazine her life out of the pool, including her work with the WSF and our causes. Sanders, who won two golds in Barcelona in 1992, has since created a name for herself in the television world, appearing on the likes of The Today Show, Good Morning America, MTV, NBC, CBS, Rachael Ray and Celebrity Apprentice, and by acting as host of Inside Stuff for the NBA and Figure it Out on Nickelodeon. But she has also proved herself a philanthropic force, giving back to the community that taught her so much through working closely with the WSF and Right to Play, an international empowerment-through-sport non-profit organization.

"Women's Sports Foundation is very important to me and every female athlete. My generation has to educate younger generations about Title IX and the opportunity it provides young women to pursue sports beyond high school. It's made to honor and equalize the hard work young girls give in sports. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to attend Stanford University on a scholarship, and I am so grateful to the generation before me that made that possible," Sanders said.
