Football

Americans love their football. Although women have just recently begun playing professionally, they have been active behind the scenes of the game for years, as trainers, administrators and of course, backyard quarterbacks. Football is a game played between two teams with 11 players on the field at once. A field is 120 yards long and 53 ½ yards wide with a goal at each end zone (the area where touch down points are scored). The purpose is to score as many points possible, or as long as time will allow, through points scored by touch downs and kicks. A team defends their end zone while the other team is attacking their line of scrimmage, or boundary line. This line is moved down the field when it is breached by the opposing team carrying the ball across it or passing it over the line.
