Billiards
Billiards, commonly known as pool, is both a recreational and competitive activity. Anyone tall enough to peep over the table can play. You don't have to be in shape, don't have to wear a bathing suit and can even eat snacks while playing! The game is played on a rectangular table covered with felt. The object is to drive small balls against one another into the pockets at the sides of the table by hitting them at the tip with a cue a long, thin tapered stick with a soft tip. The balls, numbered 1-15, are solid colored and striped. The game begins when the balls are arranged in a triangular pattern and one person breaks by shooting a white cue ball into the 15-ball arrangement from the opposite end of the table. There are several different games that can be played - the most popular being "Eight ball." Players shoot either striped or solid balls into the pockets with the goal of sinking all their balls and lastly the eight ball before their opponent.
