Women's Sports Foundation Responds
to Isiah Thomas Ruling
Statement by:
Aimee Mullins
Women's Sports Foundation President
The Women's Sports Foundation is encouraged that the jury took seriously Anucha Browne Sanders' accusations of sexual harassment. As is the case in far too many work places, the behavior described in Sanders' suit is often viewed as acceptable or, at worst, the norm.
As more and more women enter and advance in the sports industry (during the 2005-2006 season women held 41% of the professional positions in the NBA league office), it becomes imperative that workplaces follow existing employment laws and create appropriate and inclusive environments for all employees.
