Sara Senske is one of the first women chosen by Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) to participate in the CART Women's Driver Development Program. She was selected for the 2000 PPG Pace Car Team as well as CART's driver outreach program, which is designed to help women drivers pursue careers in open-wheel racing. She was selected to drive in the 1999 Inaugural Women's Global GT Series and won from the pole by a 27.3 second margin at the Women's Global GT race in Portland, Ore.
In 1999, she had podium finishes in the Phoenix International Raceway Mazda Series oval race and at the Pikes Peak International Raceway and Irwindale Speedway. In 1997, she became the youngest driver to sign with Lynx Racing. In 1996, she was selected as the Most Improved Driver of the Skip Barber Western Race Series.
Senske started kart racing at age 7 and won three national kart championships. She graduated from the Lyn St. James Driver Development Program in 1995, a year before graduating from high school. (10/00)
