Gabrielle Reece recently completed her rookie season in two-person beach volleyball events, including the 1999-2000 Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Beach Volleyball World Tour and Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Grand Slam events. All events in the 1999 GM Olympic Challenge Series are qualifiers for the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000.
A 1990,graduate of Florida State University, Reece set two school volleyball records in solo blocks (240) and total blocks (747), ranked fifth in the NCAA in career blocks, and still owns both of the FSU records today. In 1997, she was inducted into the Florida State University Athletic Hall of Fame. Also in 1997, Reece played with the USA Women's 4's Exhibition Team, which claimed the title of World Champions of Beach Volleyball.
Reece was a member of the Women's Beach Volleyball League from 1993-1997 and served as team captain for five years. She led the Women's Beach Volleyball League (WBVL) in kills and blocks from 1993-1996, was voted Most Valuable Player in 1993 and named Best Offensive and Most Improved Player in the league in 1994.
