Heather Mitts/ Soccer

Heather Mitts was a consistent starting defender in 2006 for the U.S. national soccer team, and was a member of the U.S. national soccer team that won Olympic gold in 2004. Mitts was also a member of the Philadelphia Charge for three seasons, in the now-defunct Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). Mitts was a WUSA All-Star in 2003. In 2001 Mitts started and appeared in a team-high-tying 20 games. Mitts made her U.S. national team debut in February 1999 against Finland, when she played 27 minutes as a reserve. She had the opportunity in 1999 to travel with the under-21 team to Germany and Denmark, where she played in both matches. Also in 1999, Mitts won the Nordic Cup in Iceland with the under-21 team. Mitts played for the University of Florida from 1996-1999 and graduated as the school's all-time leader in games played (95), starts (94) and minutes played (7,547). In Cincinnati, Ohio, where Mitts attended high school, she was a two-time all-state and all-central region selection. Mitts has co-hosted "The Tailgate Show," which aired before the Philadelphia Eagles game, serves as a sports reporter for the NBC affiliate WCAU and has served as a studio analyst for the 2003 Women's World Cup.
