As she led the New York Power and the league in goals (16) and total points (35), Milbrett was named the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Offensive Player of the Year in August, 2001. As a member of the U.S. national team, Milbrett was named U.S. Soccer's Chevrolet Female Athlete of the Year in 2001. In 2001, Milbrett was one of three nominees for the first-ever FIFA Women's World Player of the Year. As the Captain of the New York Power for the 2002 WUSA season, Milbrett led her team in goals (10), assists (8) and total points (28). For her two-goal performance against the Washington Freedom, Milbrett was named the WUSA Player of the Week for the week ending April 14, 2002. She recently won the 2002 ESPY Award for the Best Female Soccer Player.
