Cindy McCurdy of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) competed in 29 tournaments in 1998 and finished in the top 10 five times. At the City of Hope Myrtle Beach Classic, she fired a 65 in the first round, the lowest of her 10-year career. Her best finish of the season came at the Los Angeles Women's Championship where she tied for third.
Also during 1998, she maintained a 72.26 scoring average, the lowest of her career. McCurdy played in 31 LPGA tournaments in 1997, tying for third at the Sprint Titleholders Championship, fourth at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, seventh at the Welch's/Circle K Championship and 10th at the Longs Drugs Challenge. In 1997, she twice tied her career-low score of 66 at the first round of both the JAL Big Apple Classic and the Safeway LPGA Golf Championship. McCurdy recorded her second LPGA hole-in-one in 1997. In 1996, she competed in 28 LPGA events, posting four top-10 finishes, including one title at the LPGA Corning Classic and two sixth-place ties.
Prior to the LPGA Tour, McCurdy played on the Futures Tour and was a two-time winner. In 1993, she became a Rolex first-time winner at the 1993 Sun-Times Challenge, where she recorded a round of 66, a career-low at that time. In 1986, McCurdy was selected to represent the United States in the Curtis Cup Matches. She won the 1985 Southeastern Conference Championship and the 1986 Public Links Championship.
At the University of Georgia, she was the individual 1984 NCAA Women's Golf champion. In 1980, she was the Georgia State champion, and a medalist in the 1981 U.S. Golf Association Junior Girls' Championship. McCurdy captured the Atlanta Amateur Championship for seven consecutive years (1978-84). She has a degree in business from the University of Georgia. (10/99)
