In August 2005, on the Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) World Tour, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh won gold in the A1 Grand Slam. In October, they won gold in the Brazil Open and silver in the Acapulco Open, and in November, they ended the season by winning gold in the South Africa Open. At the end of the 2005 season, May-Treanor was awarded Best Offensive Player, Best Setter and Most Outstanding, and Walsh was awarded Best Blocker, Best Hitter and Best Sportsperson by the FIVB. By the end of the 2005 season May-Treanor also led the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) in victories and was awarded Best Offensive Player, Most Valuable Player, and along with Walsh, Team of the Year. In April through July 2006, they won eight of the 10 AVP tournaments they competed in with two second-place finishes. May-Treanor and Walsh are currently ranked No. 1 in the AVP. Internationally, May-Treanor and Walsh have won two gold and two silver medals out of the four events they competed in on the FIVB World Tour from May to July.
