Began playing pool at age 14 in Gavle, Sweden. She was the winner of eight world championship titles and the number-one ranked female billiards player in 1992 when she was named the Player of the Year by Billiard Magazine. In October 1994, Mataya won the World Nine-Ball Championship. Mataya also appeared in the motion picture “The Color of Money” and on ESPN Sports.
