Marilyn Jones-Doxey/ Baseball

Marilyn Jones-Doxey is one of the many women who played in the historic and ground-breaking All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL). “Jonesy” spent seven years with the league as both a catcher and pitcher. In 1950, she helped the Rockford Peaches win the league championship. She was later traded to the Battle Creek Belles in the middle of the following season. “Jonesy” had the last laugh when she pitched a no-hit-no-run game against her former teammates. Throughout her career with the AAGPBL, she owned a 2.79 lifetime ERA. A native of Providence, Rhode Island, “Jonesy” currently resides in Florida. (10/04)
