Baseball
One of the premier shortstops on the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), Dorothy Harrell-Doyle spent eight years in the league, all of them with the Rockford Peaches. The native Californian was voted to the AAGPBL All-Star team four times and led her team in RBIs and at-bats several times. Harrell-Doyle got early encouragement in her baseball career from her mother, a huge baseball fan. Her mom gave her a baseball glove and a uniform for Christmas when she was 5. After leaving the AAGPBL, Harrell-Doyle became a physical education teacher and guidance counselor in California. (04/07)
