Thelma Eisen/ Baseball

Thelma "Tiby" Eisen was an All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL), All-Star and a league champion. She played 107 games and stole 91 bases to help the Milwaukee Chicks win the first of their three championships. In the 1946 expansion, she was sent to the last-place Peoria Redwings, for which she stole 128 bases and led the league in triples. In the middle of the following season, Eisen was traded to the Fort Wayne Daisies, and she played for the Daisies until the end of her career. A wide-ranging center fielder, she is credited with 1,857 putouts in 959 games. Batting lead off for the Daisies, she averaged more than 70 stolen bases a year. In 1949, she was chosen as one of the AAGBL players to tour Central America. Eisen was dubbed one of the top 20 players of league history. (9/08)
