Jean Cione/ Baseball

A former vice president of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) Players Association, Jean Cione was also an AAGPBL All-Star and champion. As a 10-year veteran of the AAGPBL (1945-1954), Cione is famous for pitching three no-hit, no-run ball games for the Kenosha Comets (1950). Cione was able to attend college in the off-season and holds a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Michigan University and a master’s from the University of Illinois. She also did post-master’s work at the University of Michigan. Cione taught physical education in the public schools for 10 years and taught sports medicine and physical education at the university level for 29 years. She attends the NCAA women’s basketball Final Four every year. (9/08)
