Laura Brenneman began playing baseball in 2001 in the Eastern Women's Baseball Conference. In 2004, Brenneman started at second base for Team USA and batted leadoff, helping the team to a silver medal at the 2004 World Series in Japan, and a gold medal at the first World Federation for Amature Baseball (IBAF) Women's World Cup in Edmonton.
