Diandra Asbaty/ Bowling

Already a member of the World Bowling Writers Hall of Fame, Diandra Asbaty has collected more than 50 medals in international competition and has become one of the most accomplished athletes in international bowling history. A member of Team USA since 1999, Asbaty capped off 2006 - a year which saw her claim her second U.S. amateur title - by winning the QubicaAMF World Cup in Venezuela.

Her on-lane success has continued in 2007 with a doubles gold medal at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and her second career United States Bowling Congress (USBC) World Ranking Masters title. She also was runner-up at the prestigious USBC Queens tournament. Most recently, Asbaty became the first individual to win a second career masters gold medal at the 2007 women's world championships in Mexico. Her previous victory came at the 2003 world championships in Malaysia. While at the University of Nebraska, she helped lead the Cornhuskers to two national championships, was a two-time, first-team All-American and was named Collegiate Player of the Year in the 1999-2000 season. In 2002, she was honored as the Nebraska Student-Athlete of the Year.

Asbaty, a USBC Silver coach, serves as spokesperson for USBC youth programs and services - making appearances and conducting coaching clinics to promote youth bowling nationwide. She also is a Brunswick Amateur staff representative and ambassador as well as a Turbo 2-N-1 Grips and Etonic amateur staff international representative. (11/07)
