Isabel Alvarez/ Baseball

Originally from Cuba, Isabel Alvarez was an All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) pitcher and outfielder for five years (1949-1954). She was honored with the Bob Parker Memorial Award, as well as with membership in the Northeast Indiana Baseball Association, for her decades of commitment to the sport of baseball. Alvarez cites playing baseball in the United States as a major career accomplishment. During her career as an AAGPBL pitcher and outfielder, she played with the Chicago Colleens (1949 and 1950), the Battle Creek Belles (1951), the Kalamazoo Lassies (1953) and the Grand Rapids Chicks and Fort Wayne Daisies (1954).
