Holiday Gift Ideas From the Women's Sports Foundation

The holidays are here again. This year why not give sports to the girls and women in your life? Whether it is sports equipment, WNBA tickets, a Foundation membership or a pass to the gym, 'tis the season to encourage women to get involved. After all, an investment in her sporting life is an investment in her future.

Shower Her with Sports Equipment
A tennis racquet, a glove, a soccer ball or new cleats will not only brighten any gal's holiday; but more importantly, send her the message that you appreciate her as an athlete.

Encourage Her Activism
Give her a membership to the Women's Sports Foundation. Young or old, she'll be a part of a the most socially conscious team in women's sports history. Members receive a quarterly newsletter with updates on women's sports issues, as well as an opportunity to vote for the annual Sportswoman of the Year Awards, a membership card and a Foundation pin.

Help Her Picture Greatness
Sports heroine posters are a fun way for girls to decorate their bedrooms or school lockers. Seeing Jessica Mendoza, Diana Taurasi, Abby Wambach or Serena Williams on your walls each day helps inspire the hopeful athlete.

Support Women's Collegiate and Professional Sports
Purchase tickets, t-shirts or other souvenirs of your favorite women's sports team. Not only are you giving a gift to family and friends, but you are also helping to support women's athletics. Find the college nearest you and go check out a variety of sports. For complete schedules and locations for the women's professional basketball and soccer teams in your area see the link below.

Send Her to a Sports Camp or Clinic
Camps and clinics are offered all over the country, year-round, for females of all ages. They provide an amazing opportunity to learn new skills or dial in old ones, make friends, and most importantly, spend time playing. Need some ideas? How about snowboard camp, trekking school or women's basketball camp?

Subscribe for Her Sporting Spirit
Buy her a subscription to a sports magazine that will keep her mind and spirit engaged in her favorite activity when she can't be playing. If you can't find a female-specific magazine that covers her sport of interest, make sure the sports magazine you choose covers female athletes equitably.
