Save the Date! On June 12 the Simmons Institute for Leadership and Change will host our spring leadership conference. We have a special guest from California who will be offering training on female athletic identity and how it relates to girls’ involvement in sports. We will also have three workshops designed to help coaching confidence and skill development—perfect for volunteers and new coaches alike. 9:15-10:30 Girls and the Athlete Identity:

The more we support girls’ involvement in sports and the earlier on girls self-identify as athletes, the more likely they will stay involved in sports. Learn strategies to train and support girl athletes at every stage of development. Facilitated by Suzanne Sillett, Team Up for Youth

10:30-10:45 Networking Break

10:45-12:00 Break-out Sessions:

Sports Programs for Learning and Growth:
Perfect for new coaches and a great review for veteran coaches, this workshop introduces participants to the “Building Blocks of Quality Youth Sports” while providing tools to engage youth and keep practices running smoothly. Facilitated by Suzanne Sillett, Team Up for Youth

Developing Your Coaching Philosophy:
Identify your coaching philosophy and understand how it can increase programmatic success. This workshop will help you to:
1) Understand the importance of having a coaching philosophy
2) Create a coaching philosophy
3) Test your philosophy
Facilitated by Tracy Britton, Trainer, Institute for Sports Coaching and Antonio Arrendel, Trainer, Institute for Sport Coaching

Jamcraftics:
This highly interactive workshop will offer tools for building leadership and communication skills through innovative physical exercises. Space limited to 12. Wear comfortable clothing. Facilitated by Jeff Robbins, Air Time Athletics and USA Track & Field
