Two-time Olympic Soccer Gold Medalist
By Stacy Holand
Angela came to the attention of the Foundation while she was playing for the Boston Breakers of the WUSA. She was such a force on the team and played with such joy and excitement that I was sure she would bring the same passion to the Foundation. She did just that. She is a great ambassador when she comes to the annual awards dinners...she has been attending them since 2003, where she represents the Foundation with charm and enthusiasm. She has shown her support in attending other events as well such as making her drives heard at the Ladies First Golf Classic. Angela shows up a these events days or even hours after competing or taking part in a practice. That is how important it is for her to be part of what we do.
Angela is also a great ambassador to fellow athletes, especially when it comes to her teammates. She is constantly talking to them about the Foundation and what we do, even getting the team to sign items for our auctions. Angela understands the power she has to spread the work about the Foundation’s mission to fellow female athletes and takes advantage of it every opportunity she gets. She has also decided to extend that reach into her hometown, Boston, where she has agreed to become a spokesperson for GoGirlGo Boston, the Foundation’s newest GoGirlGo city.
The Athlete Advisory Panel is great place for Angela to take an even greater plunge into the world of the Foundation and continue to make a difference for girls and fellow athletes with her enthusiasm and passion for what we do.
