The Women’s Sports Foundation®, a national non-profit 501(c)3 organization, is accepting online applications for a part time Legal Advocacy internship position for the
August-December 2008 and
January-May 2009 sessions. Responsibilities include working with gender equity cases and assignment in the
Public Policy department under the direction of the Foundation’s Public Policy Director. Interns work in our Washington, DC office. The intern position is non-paid, but participants may obtain law school credit.
The Legal Advocacy Intern assists the Foundation Public Policy Director with legal research and writing regarding all inquires from parents, coaches, athletes, and administrators related to Title IX, the Amateur Sports Act and other gender equity situations in women’s sports. Responsibilities will also include drafting Foundation position papers, articles, and news stories on cases and current issues in women’s sports as well as preparing correspondence to encourage schools and organizations to comply with gender equity laws.
Qualifications:
- Excellent research and oral and written communication skills.
- Minimum of one year law school required.
- Familiarity and background in gender equity issues, specifically Title IX and Sports Law preferred.
